Been a little while since I did a blog entry but definitely wanted to do a new one after this particular project. A recent client contacted me about doing a pair of custom Jordan 1s centered around music icon Stevie Wonder, specifically something themed after the cover art of what's arguably the greatest body of work in his career, the 1976 Motown release "Songs In The Key Of Life"
Personally this has been one of the most fun client projects i've done in recent memory. The base shoe used for the custom theme was the Black Jordan 1 Ying Yangs:
The plan was to include the artwork from the album cover into the shoes along with a few song lyrics:
And here is the finished product:
As usual, everything was done freehand (wanted to put more song lyrics into the shoe but didn't want the shoe to look too cluttered). Side note: half of the project was done while listening to the album (which is a masterpiece) so needless to say the vibe was definitely there during the creative process.
