Customer Spotlight: "Booster Gold"

Honestly, I never thought that I would be getting commissioned for a Booster Gold custom theme.  Booster is a personal favorite character of mine but being as though he hasn't appeared in a major comic book film (at least not yet) and that most of the comic themed requests I get are usually for characters who've made major movie and/or tv appearances, it's one of those ideas I figured wouldn't happen unless it was from someone who's an actual comic reader like myself.  Apparently and fortunately there are those who follow my work that are fans from the actual books as well as movies & television.

For those not up on Booster Gold: In the 25th Century, Michael Jon Carter was a night watchman at the Metropolis Space Museum.  Carter stole technology from the museum (namely a Legion of Super Heroes flight ring and Brainiac 5's force field belt)., left a lackluster life in the 25th century and traveled back to the 20th centery and became a super hero, originally as an attempt to become rich and famous.  Eventually Booster, along with his robot sidekick Skeets, would work alongside time traveler Rip Hunter and go on time traveling adventures thwarting criminals who would attempt to go through time and change history....usually attempting to somehow stop the creation of well known heroes like Superman and Green Lantern.  Booster also served stints as a member of the Justice League and Justice League International.  I always thought the early 2000s Booster Gold comic run loosely inspired the original concept of the current DC's Legends Of Tomorrow TV series, a show which Rip Hunter was/is a main character.

The shoes:

The client wanted something that mainly focused on the colors and costume logo....sort of along the lines of the Daredevil customs done a while back.

The base shoe: Air Jordan 1 mid white/white:

And the finished product:

The front toe features the star logo from the chest area of Booster Gold's costume and the back heel features Booster's trusty sidekick Skeets.  I also wanted to give the shoes a bit of the shiny look that his costume is usually drawn with in the comics (most notably by character creator Dan Jurgens) but at the same time keeping the design on the subtle side and without any additional bells and whistles.  I also thought having the Booster Gold Jumpman would be a nice touch.
